Every so often a new beauty buzzword pops up and the world goes crazy for it; multi-masking, skinimalism, maskne, clean beauty - the list really goes on. But one word that pops up time and time again and that we feel can be completely misunderstood, is ‘Mineral’.
As a brand that is passionate about creating products packed full of healthy ingredients, we thought we’d give you the lowdown on what it really means to wear mineral makeup.
So what’s the big deal with Mineral Makeup?
Mineral makeup is the healthiest option for your skin as it adheres to the skin’s natural oils and rests itself on top of your skin, rather than seeping into it, which most non-mineral formulas can do. It’s completely non-comedogenic, meaning there’s zero chance of it clogging your pores and causing breakouts and it’s suitable for even the most sensitive skins.
Mineral makeup usually has an SPF built in too, which we all know by now is important all year round to protect our skin from harmful UV rays.
But, we know what you’re thinking, what about the coverage?
There is this huge misconception around mineral makeup not being enough when it comes to coverage, but this is entirely untrue. Sure, if you are using a mineral, tinted moisturiser or a lighter base, then of course the coverage will naturally be less, but if you opt for an actual mineral foundation, coverage really shouldn’t be an issue. Due to the fact mineral makeup is made up of natural oil-bonding ingredients, rather than pore-clogging fillers such as talc, it actually provides a longer-lasting coverage that you can build on without it becoming cakey.

Its Good-For-You ingredients include Hyaluronic Acid, which hydrates the skin, Collagen which helps revive the skin and fight against aging, and SPF50 for UVA & UVB protection. Brighten Up is loved by so many for its lightweight, mineral formula that works to not only brighten the under-eye, but also to hydrate & smooth delicate skin. A perfect partner to our Second Skin & Brighten Up is our mineral cream concealer, Complete Cover Up. This one is oil-free, non-comedogenic and leaves a semi-matte finish on the skin. Perfect for those of us with oily skin.
