Oily Skin Heroes

Oily skin may feel like a curse, but it’s definitely not: it’s actually protecting your skin from the elements. Instead, oily skin just needs a little extra help and care to manage breakouts, shine, and boost your comfort during the day.

Our top skin products for oily skin

If you have oily skin, it means your sebaceous glands beneath the skin are producing too much sebum (which is the oily, waxy substance your skin needs to retain moisture and protect it from the elements).

You don’t want to get rid of sebum entirely, but too much is what can potentially clog your pores and lead to breakouts. Fortunately, the right skincare products for oily skin can help to reduce the chances of spots and dial down the oiliness.

Cleanser for oily skin

The first step in any skincare routine, for oily skin or otherwise, is a cleanser. Getting rid of dirt and excess oil helps you feel clean, refreshed, and ready to take on the world.

For oily skin, we recommend our DuoCleanse Cleanse & Clarify. Part of our iconic two-step cleansing collection, Cleanse & Clarify is expertly formulated to target blemishes and congestion. Enriched with 2% Salicylic Acid to exfoliate and control excess sebum, this cleanser for oily skin helps to remove oil build up and calm existing blemishes (and prevent more appearing in the future).

Hydration for oily skin

Just because your skin feels oily or moist, doesn’t mean you should skip hydration. Even oily skin needs deep hydration to keep it soft, smooth, and supple. Our hydration favourite? HydraGlo Serum…

Our HydraGlo Serum is lightweight on the skin, but heavy on impact. Packed with Hyaluronic Acid, Niacinamide, and Ceramides, each pump provides deep hydration and moisture retention for plump, glowing skin.

Top Tip: remember, a little goes a long way, so use your HydraGlo sparingly - especially as part of a skincare routine for oily skin.

Frequently Asked Questions

Still got questions? Find the answers you’re looking for below…

Q. What are the signs and causes of oily skin?

If you have oily skin, you’ll tend to notice that you have:

• Higher levels of shine on bare skin, especially in your T-Zone (this area includes your forehead and nose).
• Visibly enlarged pores.
• Frequent blackheads and breakouts.

Oily skin can be caused by genetics, stress, the weather, or may be a sign that your skincare products are too harsh; forcing your skin to produce more sebum to protect itself. It may also happen with hormonal shifts, like puberty, pregnancy, and around your period (if you have one).

Q. What are the do’s and don’ts of oily skin?

Taking care of oily skin is a little different to the other types, so make sure you:

• Do cleanse in the morning and night to help remove excess oil and prevent it from clogging your pores.
• Don’t use super hot water or harsh scrubbing - this could make your skin overproduce even more oil in reaction. Gentle is the way to go.
• Do remember to moisturise and use products for hydration, even if the surface of your skin feels like it doesn’t need it.
• Don’t forget SPF - you should apply SPF every day, even when you’re inside.
• Do look for oily skin-saving ingredients, like Salicylic Acid and Ceramides, to protect and cleanse your skin.

Q. Why am I more prone to spots with oily skin?

Spots and blemishes happen when your pores get blocked and clogged with excess dirt. When you have oily skin, this tends to be more likely - which is why it’s so important to cleanse your skin.
