Top Tips on Tanning Prep!

Exfoliate your skin about two days in advance. I love the Boots Soap and Glory Sugar Scrub. I also like the Bondi Sands Tan Eraser, the only thing is you have to wait a few minutes before you get in the shower which impatient me doesn’t always love!! Sanctuary also do lovely body scrubs that aren’t too harsh on the skin.

 Moisturise Dry Areas

Tan tends to stick to dry areas so exfoliating two days in advance will give you optimum results, and pop a little moisturiser on areas like elbows, knees and ankles will result in an even colour. I personally like the Bioderma Moisturising cream and it's not too expensive either.

 The Tools

Apply with a clean mitt! If you use the same mitt with every tan you’ll never get a true colour or proper representation of the tan you’re using if there’s other grime bits stuck in it!

Apply all over and leave hands, face and feet till last. My top tip here is to use a brush on these areas and either a lighter colour tan, particularly if you're using an ultra dark tan, or moisturise directly before you apply. This generally isn't recommended but it's a good way to ensure the shade isn't too dark! A brush can get into the nooks and crannies of the hands and feet, to make sure that it's nicely blended! If you don't have a brush to hand I'd just use half the amount of tan on your mitt for these areas!

The Buffer Brush is an all rounder for foundations and tans and really buffs the product into the skin which gives a lovely blended and even finish!

Prolonging Your Tan!

The key to helping your tan last longer is by moisturising - I know it’s almost like a luxury to have the time to moisturise and I’m guilty of it myself but if you’re going to an event of going on holidays moisturising is key to helping your tan last longer!! You could also bring a gradual tanner away with you to help prolong your tan without having to scrub it all off again. Bellamianta gradual tan or Tantastic gradual tan are both lovely options for this!

Hope you found this helpful! You can have a read of 5 of my favourite tans here!
