Top Tips for Mature Makeup
With the week that’s in it I thought why not dedicate a few edits to the lovely mature women of the world. Between the bridal parties that I do I have lots of mothers and grannies of the brides so I am very used to doing that type of skin. If you feel that you’re unsure of how to do your makeup or maybe you feel it gets harder with age then hopefully there will be some tips for you.
Keep It Light!

I am a firm believer in this motto but particularly when it comes to age. The older we get the more we lose elasticity and the more makeup can tend to sit and set on the skin. You want to keep the coverage lighter so that the skin looks fresher. A lovely foundation for this is the IT cosmetics CC Cream which is a full coverage base with SPF 50 or YSL Touche Eclat Foundation which is a gorgeous full coverage foundation that leaves skin glowing. You can always build up the coverage in areas of roseacea or broken veins with concealer after.

2) Dewy Does It

Much like my previous point your want your skin to stay radiant and fresh. Don’t over powder because it will only mattify and tire out the skin. I’m not saying that you need to be oily and sweaty looking but opting for a loose powder will give a much softer finish. Bourjois Java Rice is a lovely option and really good value at €12.99. It's a really light translucent powder that instantly illuminate and smoothes out your complexion for a lovely flawless finish. If you wanted something a little more illuminating the Laura Mercier Translucent Powder which will set your foundation for the day and blur the lines of fine lines and imperfections.

3) Cream Highlight is Key

Dont avoid highlight because you think it will only emphasise areas you don’t want it to but use it carefully. A cream texture is by the far the most flattering on a mature skin or any skin really that wants that textured finish. Tap onto the tips of the cheekbones and you will be naturally glowing! 4) Definite Brows

As we all know at this stage brows change everything. If you’re someone who has given up on your brows or feel they never grow don’t lose full faith! Using a shadow or pencil into the hairline will make a massive difference. Keep it light handed and you will be lovely and defined in no time. Another amazing product if you have brows to work with is the Benefit Gimme Brow. It's the easiest product to use as you just glide it through the brow to groom and give added definition.

Rimmel brow this way €5.99 / Benefit Gimme Brow €26.50

5) Line Your Lips

Lips are by far one of the most common complaints I hear when it comes to a mature skin. People either feel that they’re lined or that they’ve disappeared so the solution here is, lip liner. Gone are the days of dodgy lip liner so you can wear one that is as natural as you like. Sculpted Lip Quads the Nude and Pink Edition both include 4 lip liners, so there's loads of options to match your favourite lipstick! Blush from our pink lip quad is a gorgeous natural looking shade.

My tip when it comes to lips is always to allow a bit of colour. Even if you’re a fan of a neutral shade make sure it’s not too nude that it washes you out.
